Érard, Pleyel, Gaveau Archive Collection

the title

the legend

The Érard, Pleyel & Gaveau
archives were digitized
at the Paris Museum
of Music.

In 2009, archives Érard, Pleyel and Gaveau were largely donated to the Museum of Music.

Documents from this archive collection (manufacturing registers, sales books etc.) span across nearly two centuries of musical instrument making history; they testify to the influence of these great companies on the music world from the late 18th century until the seventies.
They hold information on instruments manufactured by these firms:

  • Manufacturing processes and dates,
  • Dates of sales,
  • Previous owners, etc.

Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de Musique Romantique Française (Center for French Romantic Music) and the Plan de Numérisation du Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication (Digitization Plan by the Ministry of Culture and Communication) financially supported the digitization of these archives.
