Museum of Music Archive Collections

Future Digitization

In 2011 the Museum of Music began digitizing its main archive collections : this project is to last several years.

Examples of archives awaiting processing and digitization:

  • Pleyel collection (technical drawings)
  • Letters by Louis-Joseph-Ferdinand Hérold and Sébastien Érard (early 19th century)
  • Musical teaching methods (manuscripts and old editions)
  • Tolbecque catalogue
Numérisation d'un registre
Digitization of a register within the museum

Several patrons support the museum’s digitization campaign: notably, the Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication (Ministry of Culture and Communication) for the entire collection, and the Palazzetto Bru Zane – Centre de Musique Romantique Française (Center for French Romantic Music) for the Érard, Pleyel and Gaveau collections.
